Photo documentation.: A black/ blue spot under the nail in a 16 year old is probably nothing more than a bit of dried blood trapped under the nail. This could be the consequence of a minor bump of the toe of a pressure injury. Without actually seeing it, I guess it could be something else, but I doubt it. To remove all concern, you might  have a physician take a look at it.

Maybe: The two aren't related, however.  Which is to say, that the candida in your vagina is albicans (most typically) and the candida (if that's what it is) on your toenail would be a different species of candida. Unless you have diabetes or some other medical condition that puts you at risk for getting candida in multiple areas of the body at the same time, the 2 aren't related. There is cream for toe!

why is my big toenail dark blue from the cuticle up? about 6 weeks ago, my toenail started getting a dark-blue spot. my sister, who is a nurse, told me it might be raynaud's syndrome, a bruise, or a sign that my toenail is regrowing itself a replacement.

First : First of all, let me thank you for posting pictures!  it will make any answer given here more accurate and informative.

Given the well-defined margins in the picture, it's unlikely melanoma.  But...  Since the incidence of melanoma has skyrocketed, out pacing any other form of cancer, and given that melanoma is a particularly deadly cancer, the safest advice i can give you is to have the nail bed biopsied.  It's no big deal to do this, and won't keep you off your feet, and you'll rest easy knowing you're ok.  In my 32 years of practice, I have seen melanoma in the foot only twice, but in each time, it was under the big toenail.

Also, a nice benefit from having your nail bed biopsied is the toenail needs to be removed in order to do it.  If it's just a collection of blood under there, removing the toenail will clear it, and you will re-grow another nail that will look just as lovely as your nail used to look before this black thing showed up.

A podiatrist or dermatologist can do the biopsy.  Please have this done.  Good luck!

Trauma: Although some birth marks on the bottoms of the feet have been noted to have unusual colors, they are generally never tender.  Pain and new onset of a discolored painful lesion on the foot is suggestive of a retained foreign body and/or infection.

Honky Tonk blues...: Blue spots, faded or not, can represent a small amount of blood either trapped under the nail or sluggishly moving near the surface of the skin. If there is not enough to irritate a nerve, then there will be no pain. Another school of thought is that it just might be a faded blue, painless small spot on the right toe nail.

Bruise: He likely hit his toe &amp; accumulated blood beneath the nail. When this happens it takes a long time for the stain to grow out. Kids toenails grow at 1-2 mm/mo so it can take quite a while for it to move to the top &amp; allow you to cut away the stained part. It is not a reason to worry.

Pressure: Could just be from the shoes or boots you are wearing and then the amount of time on your feet. Now rest those feet and if does not resolve timely. See your doctor.
