Thoughts...: Other than a sunburn, i'd think of a photodermatitis, which is an abnormal skin reaction to sunlight.  Sometimes it's caused by taking medications (including creams or lotions), it can be inherited, or it can be precipitated by coming into contact with certain plants like celery or lime.

Shingles: From the description, it sounds like you may have shingles. See your doctor soon so that he or she can get a look at the rash and decide if that's what is going on, and then treat it.

Sarcoma: This would be sort of rare, but certain types of sarcoma (kaposi's sarcoma and angiosarcoma) can cause purple discoloration of the skin.  If it is an early cancer, these can be the only symptoms.  I should emphasize that most purple skin splotches are not cancerous.  If your doctor is suspicious, a biopsy can be helpful.

Purpura: Purpura occurs when small blood vessels join together or leak blood under the skin.
When purpura spots are very small, they are called petechiae. Large purpura are called ecchymoses. You need to see your doctor as you may have a bleeding disorder.

Yes it can : depending on what the spinal nerve nodule is.  A skin disease can cause the nerve nodules just as nerve nodules can cause skin changes

Skin blotchiness: A number of different skin conditions can cause uneven pigmentation or blotchiness. Tinea versicolor (tv) is one of them. Usually the spots are lighter or darker than normal skin tone and have a very fine scaling. Mild tv responds to over the counter dandruff shampoos like selenium sulfide. Please see your dermatologist for more definitive diagnosis.

: Most localized rashes represent a local contact with a triggering agent. However, most rashes are rather non- specific and can only be correctly analyzed by a direct visual exam.

i have phytophotodermatitis from limes. my hands are blotchy/hyperpigmented. how can i get my hands back to normal? how long will it take?

Sun protection: Phytophotodermatitis should be treated just like other contact allergies, but with an emphasis on good sun protection (broad spectrums sunscreens).  Topical steroids can help initially to improve the redness and the itch.  The hyperpigmented spots, however, can take months to go away.  Sometimes a dermatologist can prescribe a bleaching cream, to help in the meantime. Hope this helps & good luck!
