A member asked:

I have phytophotodermatitis from limes. my hands are blotchy/hyperpigmented. how can i get my hands back to normal? how long will it take?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sun protection: Phytophotodermatitis should be treated just like other contact allergies, but with an emphasis on good sun protection (broad spectrums sunscreens). Topical steroids can help initially to improve the redness and the itch. The hyperpigmented spots, however, can take months to go away. Sometimes a dermatologist can prescribe a bleaching cream, to help in the meantime. Hope this helps & good luck!
