Drug interaction: When you take more than one drug you do have an interaction. Simvastatin and coumadin (warfarin) are very often given together. Though now with newer blood thinners less coumadin (warfarin) is being used. Studies have shown that some statins increase risk and some decrease risk of bleeding.  So if you have no increased signs of bruising and bleeding you may be still okay.

2 new drugs: The fda has approved 2 new drugs and more are on the way: Pradaxa (dabigatran) and xarelto (rivaroxaban). Key points: they're very expensive, don't require frequent blood samples for dosing, and they have no antidote if serious bleeding occurs. Pradaxa is taken twice a day, xarelto is once daily. If stopped abruptly, there is incr risk of clotting with both. Pradaxa can often cause stomach upset.

Difficult issue: A dose of 25 mg of Coumadin (warfarin) is way more than what is effective in most people. It is not uncommon to not be able to find the cause of clotting disorders. There are other anti-cogulants on the market, however given the difficulty in managing your husband's clotting disorder, he may require evaluation and management by a hematologist specializing in coagulation disorders.

Everyone's different: Just follow your prothrombin time. It is not rocket science. The doctor will tell you when you are in therapeutic range. Some people take much larger doses of Coumadin (warfarin) to get adequately anti coagulated. It's all good.

Yes: Bromelain, omega 3, delta tocopherols, white willow bark
delta tocopherol is expensive and effective. I have seen muscle necrosis with coumarin - better to keep this short term negotiate with your pcp to switch this as soon as possible.

Toxic: Excessive Coumadin (warfarin) raises the inr/protime to elevated levles which then can cause spontaneous bleeding, everywhere... Eat a salad or any vit k substance to reverse its effect.
