Foreign object?: One possibility is a piece of food such as a kernel of corn fragment has become embedded in the top of the clot. If the extraction was performed more than 3 or 4 days ago, it should be safe to carefully lift the fragment off with tweezers or go back to let the dentist look at it if you aren't comfortable with tweezers or if the extraction was more recent.

Depends : Minor oozing of blood for a few hours after wisdom tooth removal is expected. If the coagulum builds up outside of the socket it is not uncommon to experience this. There is concern for the development of a dry socket if the clot is removed from your extraction site. You will likely have a significant increase in pain a couple days after and should see your dr for follow up. The sooner the better.

Blood clot: Hello, bleeding following dental surgery is quite common. I would recommend rinsing with cold water. This will remove the clot and the cold temperatures will help to decrease further bleeding. Compression with a gauze will also help. If bleeding persists, phone your dentist.

Yes: Maintaining an adequate nutrition following any surgery is important.  If you are taking pain medication, it is important to have something in your stomach before taking the pain med to decrease the risk of nausea.  Start with a soft diet, drink liquids, and advance your diet as tolerated.

Possible: This can happen after a wisdom tooth is removed.   Usually pain medications will help.   You are probably asking if you have a dry socket.   You know if you have this if there is a 10 out of 10 pain and the pain medications do not help at all.

Wisdom extraction: You may have a sinus perforation. See an oral surgeon asap, you may have an infection, have them take xrays, the infection can get worse and spread.

Start slowly: Nutrition is important for wound healing after surgery.  Start with a soft diet and drink plenty of fluids.  You can advance your diet and types of food as tolerated.  Some people eat a regular diet immediately following surgery, while others may be more cautious and not try to resume their normal diet for several days after surgery.

3-7 days: If the extractions are done correctly and you were prepared properly before the extractions with antibiotic rinses and 800 mg of Ibuprofen for 24 hours prior to the extractions,  you recover quickly!
