Nephrostomy: Many times due to mechanical involuntary displacement of the tube, with other causes also possible. You should have it assessed as soon as possible by the team that inserted it.

my 77 year old husband has had a catheter in place for 2weeks awaiting partial prostatectomy. today we are seeing blood in the bag. is this normal?

Probably OK but call: It's common to see some blood in the bag from having a urinary catheter. As long as it's a small amount and not pure blood filling the bag, it's not an emergency. It's still worth a call to the doctor to let him or her know. It's possible your husband has a urinary tract infection.

Vascular damage: and clotting disorders, can increase the risk of developing post procedure blood clots.  Thrombophilias, (clotting disorders), inborn tendency for blood clotting, are more common than once was recognized. Testing for genetic variations, and history of previous clots can be helpful to know, but not all clots are preventable.

: All of the above and more may contribute to the rash. Definitely worth informing your treating docs as work up will be needed. The rash can be due to underlying conditions and precipitated by above procedures.

Usually doesn't: Blood should not show up after Foley catheter insertion but sometimes it does.  This is usually due to the trauma of placing the catheter in which the catheter rubs up against the urethra causing irritiation. It should resolve quickly. If not, it may need to be evaluated.

ASAP call doctor: who either inserted or ordered Foley catheter. Most likely a UTI. You need catheter removed or replaced + antibiotics for UTI.

Thoughts: LDH levels post ablation should not be elevated for that long typically. LDH can be elevated related to cardiac injury, muscle injury, infectious mononucleosis, stroke, pancreatitis -etc. Talk to your doctor first. He may order other tests to dillineate where that LDH a may be coming from.

19 yr female. had a catheter put in at the er. took 4 nurses, er dr., and 7 try's with small cath. lots of blood, how long before my urethra heals?

Trauma: It's unusual to have such difficulty catheterizing a female patient, but trauma to the urethra should heal within several days to a week. If heavy bleeding into the urine persists or lasts much longer than a week, consult a urologist.
