Small: amount is common, but , I still want my pts to inform me so that we can make sure it is not serious. If you have had intercourse in the last couple of days, this would be common. If she is having pain, or the bleeding is worsening, go in and get checked

i am now 28 weeks pregnant and i had some bleeding, and the placenta is stuck over the scar. what does this mean?

Placenta accreta: It sounds like placenta accreta. Women who have had a c/s or other previous uterine surgery are at increased risk for the placenta growing into the uterine muscle layer if it implants over the scar. Most women don't get bleeding from this during pregnancy. The main risks of an accreta are heavy bleeding at the time of delivery of the placenta or inability to deliver it, requiring a hysterectomy.

Dry: Try utilizing ocean nasal spray to keep mucus membranes moist. It can be found at Walgreens or similar stores.

Accepted Answer

Low lying placenta: A low lying placenta is always a concern because when bleeding begins it is often not just a few drops, but a hemorrhage. Your OB MD should be notified of the bleeding as the placenta may have migrated further down towards the opening of the cervix and needs to be checked.

watery/slimy discharge for 1 wk/soaks undies. 28 weeks pg-no cervical length but have an in tact cerclage. dr says only worry about gushes or bleeding?!

Correct: Listen to your doctor. This can be a perfectly normal occurrence so stay in touch with your doctor about changes in amount and appearance of the discharge. Best of luck with your coming child.

No: You are at increased risk of bleeding form the placenta 
pre via when your cervix contracts.  This usually happens around the 32 weeks so be careful.

Confusing question: The scan itself is not a danger to you or the baby.It does offer the doc some information that can be helpful.Ultrasounds later in pregnancy can help verify normal progress of the baby along with finding the location of the placenta.All are part of good monitoring to assure the best outcome.

About 28 weeks: The easiest way to figure out how many months you are is to count backwards from your due date which is of course 9 completed months.  4 weeks is a little less than one month and so 40 weeks = 9 months.
