i had gallbladder surgery 4 days ago. doing very well. tired of bland diet, what can i eat? i'm afraid to eat anything not bland!

Anything, but...: Beware. Any food with oils, fats, or dairy may cause cramping and / or diarrhea. None of these will hurt your body, you just may not feel so well. As for bland diets, there is no reason that what you eat can't be flavorful. Spices and seasonings have nothing to do with bile and its functions.

i had my gallbladder removed 2 days ago. is some nausea after a bland diet normal at this point?  otherwise, no complications at all.

Yes , you will be OK: It is only just 2 days post op, you will e back to normal in few days, don't over eat and go back to your surgeon for post operative follow up.

Have to give time: With pre existing gastric ( pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) ) problems , it is only 9 th PO day, is not easy to digest raw veritable , you don't  have to give up , be patient give few more days you will be fine, speak to your surgeon

GB unlikely: for your age. You can get an ultrasound to check the gallbladder and will probably be normal. IBS is certainly common.
You may want to discuss your diet with your doc or with a nutritionist. Good luck and all the best.

pale yellow stools for the past 3 weeks despite what i have ate. been keeping to a bland diet & blood work normal and pcp don't think it's gallbladder?

Change in stool colo: If it is not bothering and blood works including liver functions are normal nothing need to worry about. If the urine color becomes dark or skin and eyes becomes yellowish, get an ultrasound of the liver and gallbladder area to rule out obstruction to the bile flow.

Accepted Answer

Low fat: If you're having gallbladder symptoms, you can reduce them by avoiding fatty foods.  Try sherbet and pretzels for snacks, avoid avocados, nuts, peanut butter. Use low fat dairy, low fat salad dressings. Nothing fried. Now, if you have surgery to remove the gallbladder, all those restrictions go away. Good luck.

Not really: You should be able to eat anything, within reason, without difficulty.  Issues such as heartburn or indigestion are not a gall bladder issue.

Accepted Answer

: Consider a diet high in fiber, healthy fats, antioxidants.  A DASH diet is good as a point of departure for nearly all comers.  It may also help with your unknown GI problems.  Best wishes.

Normal diet: Most people can resume a normal diet after having their gallbladder removed.  A small subset of people will develop diarrhea after fried/fatty foods.

Low fat: Best to start off with a diet low in fat while avoiding large meals.
