No: You cannot get a traditional "pimple" on your tongue like on your skin. A pimple on the skin is a blocked oil gland or pore which has become infected with bacteria. The tongue does not have oil glands or pores, so it doesn't get pimples. However, there are all sorts of other lumps and bumps which can form on the tongue (but not pimples). If you have something, get it checked by a dentist or ent.

Irritation/INFECTION: If no pain or slight discomfort, it provably means that you ate something that irritated your tongue.
Also it could very well  be the clinical aspect of herpes (viral infection) or the initial stage of aphtous ulcer(s) (bacterial) in which cases you will experiment burning sensation and/or pain.

Inflamed Papillae: What may appear as a pimple on the back of your tongue could be an inflamed taste bud.  Also, tonsillar tissues are located around the throat in this area in a 'ring' pattern, that may be enlarged or inflamed. Finally, some lesions of this type may be related to oral cancer or std's.  My advise is to visit an oral surgeon or oral pathologist very, very soon for a thorough examination of this area!

See your dentist: Since the tongue does not have the structures that lead to pimples, what you have is some other process. What it is can best be determined by exam, and your dentist is a good source.Your primary care doc might be able to assist you also.

Temporary: It is probably a swollen taste bud or a small ulceration.  It should go away within a week or so.  If it does not go away have it checked by your doctor.

Some basics : There is a row of normal pimple looking glands at the back/base of the tongue. If there are sores on his tongue these can become coated with debris. Most tongue sores represent viral issues that eventually self heal. The primary focus of management is assuring proper fluid intake to prevent dehydration. Ice chips/cold fluids/ lozenges all help.
