i have what appears to be strep. swollen throat with white spots. i noticed there is also a dark black lump on my left tonsil. what could this be?

recurring tonsil stones and enlarged tonsil for over a year now i've noticed a  red lump, bleeds when touched, and today has turned blackish. worried!

Remove tonsils: Risk benefit analysis of leaving diseased tonsils in place versus surgically removing them is in favor of tonsillectomy. It is a common, effective, safe surgery. Pathology report after surgery will be helpful. Be well.

Not sure either but: Go to dentist and if he is worried by them he will send you to an oral surgeon to remove them and do a biopsy. And stop smoking! It's terrible for your health! There are many stop smoking aids and programs.

Hemorrhage: Black 'lumps' that 'spread' to other are areas may be submucosal hemorrhages. They may rupture and leave a bloody debris on the tongue.
You need to get a blood test asap. Time is important in determining the cause of your symptoms.

Most likely no: These yellowish whitish things are ver common in the tonsils. Debris forms in the tonsillar crypts and sometimes the tonsil forms a membrane that walls it off. This then appears as a lump. In general, these are nothing to worry about. If concerned, an ENT doctor will be able to quickly evaluate it and reassure you.
