i had these black eye for a month and bout two week the redness and the swellness is gone what i can use to clear the blackness under the eye?

had detached retina, fixed w scleral buckle 2014. has been stable. a few days ago i fell and have a black eye - same eye. no pain/redness in the eye itself. vision ok (not good in that eye anyway). no new flashers/floaters. should i be concerned?

: As long as the vision is unchanged, it's unlikely that the retina has re-detached. However, it is probably safest to have a dilated retinal exam to be certain.

: No it will not cause a black eye. You have a small hematoma which will get absorbed and go away in a few days. Dont worry.

Red eyes: If not due to infection or allergies your red eyes may be from strain or dryness. If you have no eye pain or visual symptoms you could try lubricating eye drops, cold compresses(twice a day) and, if you're straining your eyes from computer work, rest them more. See an ophthalmologist for evaluation and treatment if symptoms persist.

No: You should not use any medicated eye drops with contacts in your eyes.  Wait five minutes before putting in contacts after you have instilled eye drops.

No: Only rewetting drops that are designed for contact lens use should be used with contacts in place.

Many things: Redness is a marker of inflammation. The inflammation can be due to infection, allergy, dryness and a number of other things. If it persists, go back to your doctor.

Accepted Answer

Not a good idea: The drops that are entitled "gets the red out" are drying.  Your best bet is to abandon these and use lubricating or tear replacement drops.  These will enhance the tear pool which is a good support for your contact lenses.   Use gets the red out drops only for those infrequent times when you might do something like having a picture taken.

No: Redness in the eye could be contact lens intolerance, allergy, inflammation, and many other things that no doctor can diagnose without a proper eye exam. Don't let this linger and get an ophthalmologist to examine you.

See an Eye MD: In your age group dry eyes are less common than blepharitis, a condition were the oil producing glands become inspissated their orifice closes possibly related to stress.  Then the extra oil cause heavy eyelids, watery eyes and redness.  Another possible reason can be uncorrected significant astigmatism. Please see an ophthalmologist for correct diagnosis first.
