It seems to be a: Common issue. I believe one reason that mosquito bites turn purple may be that the female mosquito deposits saliva that contains anticoagulants in the skin. Anticoagulants cause more bleeding. Bleeding leads to purple bruises. Take care.

Response: The purple coloration in area of bites is more consistent with local bruising, perhaps made worse by scratching.  If she has a fever, and starting to get generally sick, she could have an infection.  N.B., most West Nile infections are usually clinically silent, and the vast majority of others are flu-like.  It is rare that a full-blown brain infection occurs, in healthy children.

The toxin does that: Wasp bites can be very serious, but that is usually within a few minutes of having been bitten.  At this point, you should only need anti-itch medicine or pain medicine if need be.  The effects that you are describing will gradually go away.  The wasp injects a toxin that you body has to clear.

Skin color change: the change to dark purple likely corresponds to the beginning of resolution of the rash.  it may be a slow process for it to return to normal in cases of chronic allergen/irritant exposure.  The process only starts once the trigger is removed.

Insect bites: Could be "bites" from any insect.  Typically, bedbugs leave 3 distinct bites in a row - called "breakfast/lunch/dinner bites." You should be concerned if the "bite" marks are progressing/enlarging - suggestive of an infection, allergic reaction, or bite with a "hemolytic" reaction (worse case scenario would be a "flesh-eating" bacterial infection).  If so, see  your doctor immediately.

Are you sure?: Did you see  and feel the spider attack? Did you take it where it could be identified? There are brown recluse spiders in TX but bites are rare. A dermatologist will help you.

Insect bite: insect bite can cause swelling reddness and pain on the site . see pcp for medication. meantime apply ice , elevate limb to decrease swelling

Allergic reaction: Biting midges have a histamine like substance in their saliva which can cause intense itching in sensitive individuals. To prevent acute allergic reaction and allow the body to develop its own immunity to midge bites vitamin b1 (thiamine) can be tried. This vitamin has an anti-histamine type action. Biting midge expert, dr. Eric reye, suggests an adult dose of 200mg twice a day with meals.
