Purple finger: Purple finger hurting or not should be checked. This sounds like some type of vascular problem.

Exam: If the finger is discolored and there is a possibility of a human or animal bite, I recommend that a physician examine the finger at this time. Consideration will be given for antibiotic treatment and a tetanus booster then.
