It will be sore and numb for a while until it heals unless you bite it again.

i bit my tongue severely during a seizure 3 weeks ago. i have a chunk of red/whiteish flesh still hanging off the side of it. should i go back to a doctor or be patient for it to fall off or go away on its own? i can send a picture if needed. thanks?

bit my tongue in my sleep, may have had a partial seizure during the night, not sure. tongue is swollen and sore. what can i do to help heal my tongue?

It will heal soon: You can take a couple of tylenols (acetaminophen) as needed(6 hourly). This will relieve the soreness . Also use mouth rinses with lukewarm water to keep it clean . The swelling will go away and it should begin healing in 24-48 hours. Such cuts on the  tongue are completely healed in 4-5 days.

See a doctor: You possible got grand mal seizure. You better go see your doctor asap and find out the cause of seizure, otherwise it is very dangerous if you are driving. You need to avoid driving until seizure free.

Doubtful: If you believe that biting tongue is sign of waking up in sleep, then you are mistaken. It is only sign of grandmal seizure. You bite your tongue during seizure in unconscious state.

Not sure on question: Of course, the optimum solution is to prevent from having seizures by absolutely taking your medications exactly how you're supposed to be taking them which also means on time according to schedule.  Remain well hydrated, do not skip meals, check with your doctor if you are prescribed any new medications or start taking over the counters or homeopathic items.  Eliminate smoking &alcohol.

Tongue lesion: If you have yet to see a doctor regarding your seizure activity, this would be a good place to start.

Tongue injuries usually heal well without medical intervention.  If you have continued swelling, bleeding or severe pain then you should be seen by a doctor.

im epileptic and have never had night seizures before. i've been waking up tired, bitten tongue, bruised head, leg over the bed. should i be concerned?

Yes!: It certainly seems as if you are having seizures at night (though not 100% sure).  Call your doc and get checked.  Your medications may need to be adjusted.  Stop any over the counter meds or supplements you may be taking that your doctor has not okayed.  No alcohol or recreational drugs either!  Call today.
