Until it heals: When did you bite your tongue? How long ago?.How hard did you bite?. It will be sore and numb for a while until it heals unless you bite it again. You need to provide more information to get definite answer.

Not long: It depends on many factors, one of the most important one being how deep and wide the gash, and how much bruising there is. I would guess that it should start getting better tomorrow and feel relatively normal within a few days. If not, or it gets worse or starts to swell, see your dentist to make sure there is no infection and it is healing normally. Rinse with some warm salt water.
