Physiatrist: I would recommend seeing a physiatrist. These are doctors of physical therapy. I would also consult your surgeon and possibly get a second opinion.

what could be the reason why my right leg collapsed under me?  it happened twice, once in december and again yesterday in feb. i had a hip replacement 10 years ago.  it is the same leg that collapsed twice.  i don't know if there could be a link.

Important : Important things to know is if you are having pain in the hip, leg, or knee on the affected side? Do you hear any noises in any of the above mentioned joints? Regardless, when your leg collapses it is usually due to a problem in the tendons or ligaments that support a joint. You could also have a problem with the hardware in your hip. You will need to see your doctor for an evaluation of this problem, which will include an examination and imaging studies (x rays and possible an mri).

Hip replacement: This is not normal. What does your surgeon say?  The prosthesis may be loose or mslpisitioned. An X-ray would show the problem.

afternoon i am 28 weeks pergant and i have one leg that always gets    extremely swollen. and on the left side i've got a hip replacement but doesn't get swollen as the right side. what's the cause of this?

Leg swelling: It appears that the veins of the right leg have valvular insufficiency possibly from old damage,phlebitis or genetic factors. A vascular surgeon can evaluate and advise you. Ultrasounds may be recommended for thorough evaluation. Wearing a compression stocking on the right leg may be advised.

Full function: After the initial recovery, a patient can expect return to near full function.  Depending on the technique, you may have certain limits on your motion and bending, but you should be able to walk normally and without limits.  Most people can participate in many sports like tennis, skiing, hiking.  Sexual relations should not be hampered.

Probably not : Because it is metal on metal.  Usually due to something else such as loosening, inflammation or infection.  Any hip replacement can have pain.  If you are having pain, obviously it depends where it is in your hip.  If it is in the groin or mid-femur it is probably because of the prothesis anywhere else probably less serious.
