Yes: Mds and dos are trained in clinical medicine with basic science background.  Phds are trained in basic science and clinical research, not the practice of medicine.  There is a long educational process and art to clinical medicine.  They study the same disease processes but work on different aspects.  Phds work on the science and theory.  Mds/dos work on using this knowledge to treat people.

Cancer: Depends on what type of cancer it is. Has it spread from some other place? If so then the prognosis is very bad. If it is a myxoma then surgery is needed.

what is the difference between a pathologist/epidemiologist and a biomedical scientist involved in pathology?

Pathologist: A pathologist is a person who has gone to medical school ( a physician) and then completed a residency program in pathology.  A biomedical scientist would likely have a Phd and trained in a graduate program, not a medial school.  Some medical schools do have Phd programs and this can confuse things.  :)

hi, this question is not really medical related but, i have applied to do biomedical science or neuroscience. i would love to purse a medical career of either a doctor or a surgeon and i was wondering which path is best to take and shorter. thank you?

: Welcome to biomedical science. Your question is whether you should pursue a medical specialty or surgical. When you will be third year medical student, you will get a chance to rotate in most of the basic specialties. At that time, you will have more interest in some specialty. Meet with your mentor then. : This question continues to come up but the answer will not change. Sperm have enough energy stores to survive up to 5=6 days only in the protected environment of a woman's moist inner genitals. They dry out and disintegrate in the open air/on surfaces and as described here. There is no technology that will re-animate disintegrated debris.

Nope.: A massive study in denmark followed 420, 000 cell phone users over 13 years and concluded that there was no evidence of any harmful effects. This is not surprising, given that no plausible hypothesis exists for how a cell phone could cause tissue damage. Of course it's impossible to prove that there is no potential for harm, but all sources of harm known or theorized to date are clearly excluded.

Today's technology: augments clinical assessments using time-honored rating scales of severity of neurological signs in a person who has suffered brain damage for any reason. The results of initial assessments are important for treatment decisions &amp; have  predictive value. Repeated assessments show degree of progress over time. Knowing all these factors tells you the chances of an individual's recovery.

Uncertain: This is a loaded question.  Today's technology does not do much more to help people awake from comas.  It all depends on the original brain injury, there are too many factors to account for in this short space.

Low vision therapy: When vision can't be restored surgically, a referral to a low vision specialist is helpful to teach people to use their remaining vision using magnifiers and visual aides.
