It depends.: ... on what is causing the blockage. If you feel you may have intestinal blockage, especially if you have severe abdominal pain or fever associated with it, I would go to the emergency room or see your doctor immediately. Good luck.

can diverticulitis cause my small intestine to get blocked?

Typically no but....: Diverticulitis usually refers to the colon.  The inflammatory process can be so severe that it can make the small bowel adhere to it and kink, causing an obstruction.  Although very rare, one can also get diverticula of the small bowel, and these could potentially perforate or obstruct.

Hello. : Hello. I think it depends on if this chronic ischemia or acute  intestinal ischemia.  Symptoms of chronic ischemia can include: abdominal pain that worsens over time, diarrhea, weight loss, nausea and vomiting, cramps or fullness of the abdomen after eating. Symptoms of acute intestinal ischemia can include: sudden  mild to severe abdominal pain , distention of the abdomen, tender abdomen, blood in feces, nausea, vomiting, fever, an urgent need to pass stool or a really vigrous bm.  I don't know if you are referring to strangulation of the bowel, which can obstruct flow and lead to gangrene.  If you have sudden onset, severe abdominal pain that should be evaluated immediately.

Time: It still takes some time for entire system to work in tandem. This has not happened yet in your case. When is your appointment with the surgeon?  See him to make sure that you have not developed a complication.

Medical attention: See a doctor if you tried laxatives and it didn't help. Particularly important if you had history of abdominal surgery, worsening pain, or going on for several days.

For a while: If they had to cut out some bowel because of the blockage then usually I have my patients on liquids for a few days then soft foods for about a week then you can regular food without restrictions.

Fecal impaction: Movicol usually works within 24 hours. In your daughters case, she may have a fecal impaction and would benefit from  enemas.

No definite time: With total TPN you can live indefinitely if blood levels and nutritional status is maintained.

Depends: On where the blockage is and whether it is partial or complete and what is the underlying cause of the blockage, be it adhesions, inflammation or tumor. See a surgeon for the specific answer to the specific problem.

Yes: You may have a partial obstruction, or something entirely different may be in progress.  Strongly suggest that you see a GI doctor asap and get this worked out with exam and testing, possibly to include endoscopy.  Good luck.
