May Be Taste Buds: There are some large taste buds on the back of the tongue.  If they look the same on both sides and there are no problems, i would recommend you watch them and bring them to the attention of your dentist or orthodontist at your next visit.  They are probably nothing to worry about.

Need biopsy: A biopsy of the tongue mass is indicated in your situation.  First an exam with your doc and ct scan imaging of your head and neck. The biopsy can often be done with needle. There is a real concern for malignancy in your situation. Don't delay.

Normal finding: Bumps on the back or inside of tongue are normal findings. Unless you are having some symptoms, like swelling or tingling etc. I would not worry too much, except to point this out to your physician at your next physical check up.

Inflamation: It is not uncommon to have red bumps on the back of tongue.  However redness and bumps on the tongue and throat means inflammation.  It could be from post-nasal drainage to acid reflex.  If it last longer than a week, go to your md.  Throat irritation from acid reflex can lead to serious complications including cancer.

had cancer oral screening 7 weeks ago (all okay.)  since then i've developed red bumps on back of tongue and along sides of tongue. could it be cancer?

Probably Not : See a dentist to determine if the bumps are an  irritation or infection or if it is the normal appearance of your taste buds (in the back - see diagram).   The dentist can tell you if you have a problem and if so, determine the most appropriate treatment.  And if you don't have a problem, having the dentist tell you, will make you feel better!

What inhaler?: is it a steroid inhaler? if yes, so make sure you rinse your mouth and throat after using it, yes at times you may have fungal infection from steroid particles deposits on the back of the throat / tongue, if that stays, see your doctor for assessment, good luck

Infection: Sounds viral but may be bacterial.  If you use tobacco, a palatal biopsy may be in order.  Salt water gargles and topical anesthetic will help.  A throat culture can help differentiate the etiology.  See your physician.
