unusual thirst
extreme hunger
unusual weight loss
extreme fatigue and irritability
frequent infections
blurred vision
cuts/bruises that are slow to heal
tingling/numbness in the hands/feet
recurring skin, gum, or bladder infections.

Evaluation: You need full evaluation with lab tests to provide prognosis. Talk to your doctor. Hopefully you will not have kidney failure.

Often None: I'm glad you have stopped drinking.  Your liver may experience some recovery.  Kidney failure often has no symptoms, but can be detected early by blood tests (bun, creatinine).  Your doctor is most likely monitoring these along with your liver.

Kidney Failure: You may very well damage your kidneys way before you 'feel' it.  Your physician is monitoring these levels I am sure.  Any change before permanent damage would be wise.

It is easy to find o: Kidney failure may or may not cause swelling. But it is easy to check your kidney function with a simple blood test. It is called blood creatininnie level...Normally it is, 1.5mg. If it is 2 mg or over, that means the kidneys are no longer functioning normally.

: You prolonged your health and living by not drinking. Have a complete exam with x-rays and blood work to find out about       your pain and liver function. Drink water, or juices.

Endoscopy: It may be a Stomach problem. Endoscopy will help evaluating that. If endoscopy is negative then Cat scan of abdomen will be needed for further evaluation

: The symptom is vague and nonspecific. For peace of mind a liver blood panel could be done as well as undergoing an abdominal exam by a physician.  In my opinion, right upper quadrant ultrasound isn't warranted at this time unless liver enzymes &amp; bilirubin are abnormal.

Fatty liver risks: Fatty liver is incredibly common, predominantly due to: high alcohol intake, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity. The more of these risks you have, the greater the chance of fatty liver. Addressing these risks is an important step to correcting fatty liver. Distinguish hepatosteatosis (fatty liver) from NASH/steatohepatitis (fatty liver + abnormal liver tests that risks cirrhosis &amp; liver cancer).
