Group B Strep: Group B Strep is an infection that can be associated with miscarraige and premature delivery.  Babies born to mothers with this infection are at risk of serious infection either immediately after birth or up to three months after delivery.  Antibiotics are frequently given to the mother during labor to prevent this transmission.

Common: Group b is strep is a normal bacteria in the vagina for three out of ten women. It is not caused by anything in particular and is not harmful to you unless it makes it way into the bladder and cause a urinary tract infection which should be treated. Pregnant women are tested at 35-36 weeks because while the bacteria isn't harmful to mom the baby could get pneumonia and very ill from group b strep.

Infection?: Grp b strep is a bacteria normally found in various areas of our body.  It does have the potential to produce different types of infection, but you must be predisposed in some fashion.  Too much info to go into here.  Commonly tested for vaginal carriage during pregnancy because can produce sepsis in neonate and mother postpartum.

: You have bacterial tonsillitis. If the urgent care folks prescribed an antibiotic, make sure to complete the course of treatment. It was not the type of bacterium that lab tested for but still a streptococcus.

: This is a common germ in the GI tract and female genital tract. Treatment is often dictated by symptom pattern. If it was an incidental squat &amp; pee urine collection with no symptoms, you could ignore it. A clean catch or cath urine with symptoms I would treat.

Probable UTI: Group B beta strep is commonly carried in the vagina, usually without harm, except if present during labor, it can cause serious infections in the baby. However, it sometimes causes UTI as well. If you have typical UTI symptoms (urineary frequency, urgency, burning) or high white blood cells in the urine, you should be treated. If not, maybe retest and don't worry if neg. Discuss w/ your doctor.

UTI in women: UTIs are extremely common in women, and more common as women age; and this particular bacteria is not an unsual cause. If you have recently been hospitalized and especially if you had a bladder cathether, or if previous surgeries involved your bladder or pelvis, these could increase UTI risk. Otherwise, the UTI is probably unrelated to your other health problems.

For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Not so rare: There's nothing mysterious here. This isn't a common cause of urinary tract infection, but certainly can happen. In women, almost all UTIs result from bacteria in the vagina, where various strep bacteria are often present. Exact sources in men less clear, but probably from skin contamination.
