WhateversComfortable: There is no specific position that i would recommend if one has a hernia.  However, following hernia repair, many patients have told me that getting out of bed is quite difficult the first few days after surgery; this is made much easier by sleeping in a reclining chair.

Not on stomach: Generally any position but flat on your stomach.  Trying a pillow between your knees if you lye on you side or under your knees if you are on your back may also help.

Sleeping & sitting: It depends on the timing after surgery.  Also the type of surgical approach that was used.  If you are at least 6 weeks out from surgery you should be able to sit or sleep in any position that you desire.  If you are in the immediate post op period, that is less than 6 weeks, these positions would be determined by the surgical approach.  You should talk with your surgeon to determine the approach.

Hard to tell: If there was a position to advise that would be more favorable than others for sleeping, it would depend on the part of the body that has compromised circulation.

Possible: Sleeping on side instead of back may help prevent obstruction of airway.  Elevating head during sleep may also help in some cases

Sleep schedule: Ten pm is a good time if that fits your schedule. Try to get 8-10 hours sleep per night.

Comfortable one: People sleep in many positions, back, abdomen and side.  With proper support of the neck, legs and back most any position is best.  Some would prefer you not sleep on the abdomen due to the greater rotation of the cervical spine.  Pillows are very improtant.  Those that support the neck, lower back, between the legs help maintain normal curvature and posture.  Sleep on it and find out best for you.

It depends : On u activity and what u need to do,  but sleep hygiene is important . Which mean be consistent when u go to sleep and when u wake up in the morning.
