There is none: There is no one generally agreed upon "best mouth-wash". In my opinion, for most individuals mouth rinses are not an essential part of a good oral hygiene regimen. There are specific mouth rinses for specific purposes and if one is needed, your own dentist can recommend the right one for you. For general purposes,  listerine and crest prohealth are two of my own personal  favorites.

Multiple: There are many options in the mouthwash category.  Try vitamyr and see if it is appealing to you.  It has a very strong, but natural flavor.

Many are good.: Toothpaste has agents in it, like Fluoride to prevent tooth and gum (gingiva) disease.  Mouthwashes, like listerine are also good since they kill bacteria.  Many brands of both these items are effective.  Common toothpaste brands are colgate, crest, and listerine.  Listerine and scope are common mouthwash brands.

Chlorhexidine.: This is a prescription mouthwash with the best antibacterial fighting properties. Causes some mild tooth staining which can be removed with a cleaning.

There : There is no strict order for brushing other than doing the upper teeth first then the lower, to remove the debris that falls down on the lower teeth, then finally flossing followed by rinsing your mouth with a Fluoride mouth rinse.

Anything without alc: Anything without alcohol, if you gum bleeding, you need a Chlorhexidine rinse from your dentist.

Accepted Answer

No alcohol based.: Try and stay away from any mouth washes/rinses that contain alcohol. If you look at some ingredients, they may contain up to 20% alcohol. This does not help in the healing process and may even hinder it. Brushing and flossing will be your best friends.

Chorhexidine: The Chlorhexidine kills bacteria and salt water does not...  I think you will get better healing with the chlorhexidine..
