The immune system is complex, and "boosting" it to make it act stronger is not always a good thing. In conditions like arthritis, thyroid disease, diabetes type 1, lupus, eczema, etc..., the immune system is over-acting and damaging the patient's own organs.

Yes: This however does not repalce the benefits of fruits, fiber and the nutrition derived from it. Vitamins are a supplement filling in any gaps in our daily intake.

Infant vitamins. : Only small amounts of vitamin d are transferred in breast milk. That's why the american academy of pediatrics (aap) now recommends that you give your breastfed baby a supplement of 400 iu per day of vitamin d, starting in the first few days of life. Babies who are fully or partially formula fed but drink less than 32 ounces of formula a day also need a daily 400 iu vitamin d supplement

Best formula: The best "formula" for babies is nothing than your own breast milk. I hope you breastfed your baby. Breast milk or formula is recommended for babies until a year old. Since your baby is now 14 months old, you can switch him to regular whole milk or evaporated milk.

Worth a checkup: You are right that just simply not being hungry is not something to ignore. There are several possible reasons. There could be a medical condition affecting your hunger, there could be something affecting your sense of smell (smell plays a large role in the enjoyment of food), or you could be depressed. In any event it is worth talking to your doctor.

Early stomach flu?: He may be starting to have stomach flu. Try a bland diet, with nothing greasy or fried. Stop milk and juice  for a few days until the stool becomes more firm.

Re-examine the issue: My expectation for feeding at that age is 3-5 good feeding days a month & the rest nibbling or grazing.Their interest also shifts to carbohydrates to sustain activity rather than protein to sustain growth.As long as the growth rate & activity level are normal, relax.Think balanced week not balanced meal.  Vitamins do not stimulate appetite in an otherwise normal kid.
