since depakote and benzodiazepines affect gaba, would someone discontinuing depakote experience symptoms similar to benzo withdrawal. if not, why not?

A little different: It depends on the variables you are examining.  From the standpoint of seizure prevention, stopping either medicine suddenly can result in in a seizure threshold that is lower than before the medicine was initiated.  However, the half life of Depakote is much longer than most benzodiazepines so the effects of stopping it are more subtle than sudden discontinuation of benzodiazepines.  Stay safe!

what would some symptoms be for in between withdrawal with benzos..ex. ativan (lorazepam) which works about 5-6 hours?

Interdose rebound: I think that what you are referring to is between dose rebound. I have to say that i really have not seen this happen with Lorazepam as long as the person is on an every 6 to 8 hours schedule. If however the dosage interval goes beyond that then the original anxiety disorder is likely to flare up only to be relieved again when the next dose is taken. Therefore the answer to your question would likely be whatever symptoms were you had prior to being on Lorazepam would be likely to flare up in between doses.

odd issue. what could potentially cause ssri/snris to either metabolize incredibly rapidly or not absorb at all?long story short, for 3 yrs my meds have caused me to withdrawal while taking them daily. ive tried multiple. much more to explain?

: Absorption of meds from the stomach is influenced by many things-amount (dose), time ., foods, fluids, metabolism absorption , transit time etc.  So ask and follow your docs instruction and if you have any other health issues she/ he should know and does not fill them in. Good luck

Go slow, work w doc: 1.  A slow, gradual dose taper is best.     Go especially slowly as you approach zero.  This can take weeks in tough cases.  2.  Decrease the daily dose, don't stretch out the time between doses.  3.  Sometimes it helps to substitute a different benzo (or phenobarbital) that has a longer half-life.  4.  Work closely with your prescribing doctor.  Good luck!

Detox: there is no magic to get your body to detox faster.  Each medicine has a certain half- life, the time it takes for the kidneys and liver to get 1/2 of the drug out of your body.  It takes about 6 half life's for each drug to get out. Then you have the withdrawal symptoms.  Contact your doctor or a detox program for help there.  You can do it.

how do you treat persistent severe akathisia like symptoms from lithium toxicity and withdrawal when benzos and propanolol cause breathing issues?

More info is needed: Are you in a hospital setting?how bad of a lithium intoxication? . A low dose lorazepam 0,5mg po q4-6 hours should help. Not sure what breathing problems u refer to, but you'll be monitored  .If you are at home and can't take benzos, try a calming, long  bath with calming salts, and  lavanda oil. Followed by a long walk.

does everyone have horrible withdrawals coming off of benzos? i have been on different benzos for 20 years. im currently on klonopin .5mg daily. im doing a water taper. started with 100ml of water. so a 3 month taper. will i be ok?

: Coupled with the fact that you're taking a low dose, doing a very slow taper off klonopin  should avoid any significant withdrawal problems. I trust your prescribing MD sanctions your going off it. I'm unsure of what schedule you'll be using,though.

can benzos cause teeth pain?--would it be a symptom of withdrawal...don't see how it could be withdrawal as i still am using them carefully.

Dry mouth for sure!: Benzodiazepines can indirectly cause tooth pain due to it reducing the amount of saliva you have.  Saliva acts as an insulator, protecting teeth from hot/cold/sweets.  If you have been on this med for awhile, dry mouth may have already happened, without you even knowing, since it is gradual.  If you have not seen a dentist in 3 months, i highly recommend going to make sure you do not have cavities.

on 15mg of valium a day. i want off benzos. would librium or clorazepate be better to withdrawal from? valium has a long half life, but not duration.

Clorazepate: is usually better and easier to withdraw from it has a slightly shorter half life.  An addictionologist would be able to help you.
