Clorazepate: is usually better and easier to withdraw from it has a slightly shorter half life. An addictionologist would be able to help you.

Untrue: diazepam has a VERY long duration of action, and is actually longer than librium, but not longer than clorazepate. It would be perfectly appropriate to taper on the diazepam itself, going down by 2.5 mg per week would be a reasonable place to start, although if any withdrawal symptoms/signs occur down the line, would slow it to 1.25 mg a week. Supplementing anticonvulsants may help. Talk to MD.
