i had a light brown spot on my forehead frozen off - dr said it was either a keratosis or wart. if it was squamous cell carcinoma- would it have grown back back now? has been years?

: If it has been years, it is not likely to grow back, no matter what it was. Squamous cell skin cancers are really common, and usually easy to treat. They usually are not brown, but scaly. It is always good to check your skin, because while an old one probably will not grow back after years, you want to watch of a new one and take care of it early.

squamous cell skin cancer or actinic keratosis? im confused. my doctor said i have actinic keratosis. then he started talking about squamous cell skin cancer and how to treat it. so, do i have skin cancer or not?

Actinic : Actinic keratosis are the precursor to squamous cell carcinoma and it is sometimes difficult to tell the difference. This is why your doctor may want to biopsy the lesions. Please discuss this with your doctor. I'm sure that he/she would be happy to explain what you have.

Benign thickening: This would be pathology report for thickened of skin with no underlying pathology. The skin is thickened with changes seen in a wart with no evidence of an underlying wart. Peeling creams such as urea could help. The area could be cosmetically improved by electric planing. Discuss with doctor.

Dr. Treatment: There is really nothing you can do at home. But a dermatologist or other dr. With special equipment can destroy the spot for youl. It may take more than one treatment to completely destroy it.

Benign: Sk's are easily confused for skin cancers due to their large size, irregular shape, and being multicolored. A trained dermatologist can easily spot the difference but very confusing for patients and other doctors. People can have hundreds or even thousands of sk's on their body and they are all benign. But having these cover the body may make it difficult to monitor for skin cancers.

No need: CT of the chest, because of the way the images are obtained, does not confuse skin lesions with possible lung nodules as can happen with plain chest xray.  If the Chest CT is being repeated due to worry about whether a 2mm nodule in the lungs might be a skin lesion then there is no need to repeat it.

found a growth on my groin area looking like a small skin tag. dermatologist biopsied and pathologist said it was a benign verrucous keratosis. is this a wart caused by hpv? they said they could do some kind of stain test to look for virus?

: The HPV strains that cause a growth in that area are not the same as those causing genital warts, All skin warts are members of the HPV family of strains. I wouldn't worry about it.

Follicular plugs: Keratosis pilaris is plugging of hair follicles, typically on the upper arms and thighs.  It is thought to be in the spectrum of atopic dermatitis (or eczema).  The roughness can be reduced temporarily by amlactin lotion, which contains 12% lactic acid.  Unfortunately, there is no cure.
