Preventative if any: Circ rates run 0-80% depending on cultural, religious and healthcare practices around the world. The only males with utis i've treated in 3 decades were uncircumcised and  under 2mo old. You never have a trapped glans(paraphimosis) or cancer of the removed area.Reduction in std rates are documented.I viiew it similar to piercing ears but with known health benifits.Easy and heals quick for newborns.

Phimosis: Adult circumcision is typically done for phimosis(tight foreskin) .  The problems with phimosis that should make one consider circumcision are painful erection/intercourse, recurring infection, severe cracking and bleeding of the tight foreskin and the inability to adequately keep the penis clean and hygienic.

Yes 4 tight foreskin: There are no health benefits from circumcision if foreskin retracts easily and subject keeps his penis clean. There are reports from Africa that it reduces risk of HIV by 50%. However, if there are considerable benefits if foreskin is too tight to retract easily (phimosis) as subject will now be able to remove smegma with ease, keep penis nice &amp; sex will be much pleasanter.

Circumcisions are done for religious and cultural reasons, but the procedure does permanently change the genitals, so parents should think about it and talk about it before doing anything to their perfect little newborn.

For you or baby?: For a baby, there are many advantages. Decrease in risk of foreskin closure over the tip, decreased risk of penile cancer, decreased risk of std's in the future. And the procedure is minimally painful if handled right, quick recovery. For an adult, the benefits are still there, but the recovery is more difficult and it's a more involved procedure. Consult with a urologist for more information.

If not too tight: Has lots of sensation which can be pleasurable. However can be uncomfortable or even painful ; liable to tear if remains after circumcision and is tight. Similar to a bowstring. Some men are happy to have retained their frenulum ; others feel the opposite. Important thing about an adult foreskin is have just right amount of skin removed. Urologist should be able to decide whether to keep frenulum.
