Probably not: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine that crosses the blood brain barrier and causes drowsiness.  Ringing in the ears will not be helped by an anti-histamine or any other drug.  If you truly have middle ear fluid, the medical or surgical alleviation of the fluid might resolve the ringing.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): There is no clinical reason why you could not apply Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream in the ear canal.  This of course is if you are not sensitive or allergic to the preparation.

Dr. can look in ears: Some people have the type of ear wax that builds up, while others do not. Some people "clean" their ears but unintentionally are pushing their wax further upstream. Wax is oily and more liquid in some people (and doesn't form a big lump), but wax is dry and hard in other people (forming a lump)... these qualities are genetic. Debrox drops, used on one or two days each month, can prevent build-up.

Antihistamine: Alavert is also an antihistamine. ringing earsand nausea suggest an inner ear or infectious process. See an ENT or you PCP.

Absolutley: Certainly burned areas of your body can swell. The cells are damaged and then leak fluid causing the swelling. Benadryl won't help because it's not an allergic reaction. It's trauma/damage to the skin cells and an anti-histamine won't help that. Keep cool compresses on affected areas, give Tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain, have him drink lots of fluids. Next time prevention is key with repeated use of sun screen.

Probably not...: It sounds like you have an external ear infection, or otitis externa...It is unlikely that this is just an allergic reaction for which antihistamines would work for. I would see a doctor without delay. In some cases, a local infection near or in the ear can spread rapidly.

Tonsillitis: Sounds like a chronic inflammation of the tonsil that leeds to infection in the surrounding tissues. May need to have tonsils taken out if it is a recurrent problem. Lymph node may need to be biopsied if it is significantly enlarged and not regressing.
