50 mg total: You can take a total of 50 mg up to every 4 hours.  I've never heard of extra strength Benadryl (diphenhydramine) (they do make a 50 mg tablet, but i've always seen it behind the counter at a pharmacy).  All the over-the-counter strengths i've ever seen are 25 mg, so you can take 2 of those.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): 50mg is the recommended dose but adults can take 400mg in 24 hours. Take 50mg 30 minutes before bedtime and if not effective by 30 minutes repeat the dose. If this is making you drowsy the following day you know it is too much. Your size and weight may have a lot to do with your dose. All the best.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Not sure what you are treating. The cream works best to relieve itchy insect bites. The pill is for more systemic allergies. You can use them together but i don't see what for.

: Expiration dates indicate that a medication will start to lose effectiveness. It will not harm you but may not be as effective. Gas X is useful for counteracting excess gas production. Take a probiotic with fiber for soft stool. Benadryl is a good occasional medication for problems sleeping, but you should talk to your Dr about the cause of your insomnia and ways to manage bedtime routines.

Avoid these: Older antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) interact with many drugs. Don't mix it with alcohol, sleeping pills, sedatives, antidepressants, potassium supplements, sodium or potassium phosphate, antipsychotics, MAO inhibitors, symlin (pramlintide), sodium oxybate, Precedex (dexmedetomidine) & abilify (aripiprazole). Loratidine and fexofenadine are as effective & much safer. Discuss this with your doctor.

Possibly : Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistmaine. If your asthma trigger is allergic, then it would be helpful. However side effects-sleepiness, dry nasal passages, etc. Are very comon. Claritin which has less side effects would be a better choice. Remember that a drug like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can "thicken" lung secretions and make them harder to cough up. Check with your physician before anything.

NO: Using chlorpheniramine (the antihistamine in corricidin)  together with Diphenhydramine (benadryl(  may increase side effects such as drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, heat intolerance, flushing, decreased sweating, difficulty urinating, abdominal cramping, constipation, rapid heart beats, confusion, and memory problems.  They are both similar acting drugs.  Do not take together.
