it takes me hrs to go to sleep,i take benadryl for allergies so now im taking two and im taking 10mg of melatonin.cant take sleeping pills cause of benadryl,i do drink coffee but just 1 a day,not at night,what am i doing wrong that i cant sleep?

Depends on amount: It depends on the size of the drink and the type of drink.  If it was one drink and if the definition on that drink is      
12 ounces of regular beer, which is usually about 5% alcohol or 5 ounces of wine, which is typically about 12% alcohol or 1.5 ounces of distilled spirits, which is about 40% alcohol. Then about 7 hours should be long enough for you to take a Benadryl (diphenhydramine).

i just took a 25mg benadryl after drinking a glass of wine about 2 hours ago. i feel fine but am i scared. do i have anything to worry about? (i believe the wine caused the reaction?

What reaction?: I don’t see that you mentioned a reaction. Both Benadryl and alcohol can make one sleepy, so the combination can certainly do that even more. Otherwise, unless you have an underlying medical condition affecting ingestion of either of these, there is generally not a reaction other than that. If you are feeling ill or have any other symptoms, please seek medical care.

: The problem is the alcohol use that can worsen some of the symptoms assigned to allergies for which you have to take meds, such as Benadryl. You can take Benadryl providing you are recognizing and assigning your symptoms properly, keeping alcohol use at a minimum until symptoms improve is recommended.

Okay: Yes it is okay to take benadryl 2 hours after having an energy drink. Benadryl does make some people drowsy. The energy drink may contain caffeine that makes many alert.  So if you are taking the benadryl for sleep, it might not be effective. Benadryl will still be effective if you are taking it for congestion.

Better choices: Benadryl is  sedating and adding that to alcohol magnifies the effect. The average rate of alcohol metabolism is 1 drink per hour, but many things effect that ( male/ female, weight, race, food eaten with it) taking it to sleep is probably ok but for allergies a non sedating antihistamine like Claritin is a better choice. Avoid it  altogether if you are driving. Be safe.

Yes: In moderation. The Benadryl would be mostly gone by then.

Not a good idea: Drinking and mixing any medications is not a good idea.
