Make sure you do not: Get infected. Wash with Alcohol and H2O2. New ski/Fibrosis can cause itching.

: Pigmentation following inflammation is normal and may take months to year to fade fully. It would be better to leave it alone. Intervention is likely to make matters worse.

Yes: If there are sutures left, they can become irritating and infected. However, your lump may not be a scar, it could be a hernia. You'll need to see your surgeon.

: It's quite possible to strain abdominal muscles by stretching &amp; twisting. Classic adhesion symptoms are rather severe cramping when intestines become blocked. Check your umbilicus or scar  to see if there's a tiny hernia.  Consult an abdominal surgeon as needed for evaluation and advice.

Depends on time: When scar is initially forming, the sites should feel firm, maybe lumpy or raised. With time, healing gradually progresses with increased blood flow and fibrous tissue (scar) is laid down to hold tissues together. In time it softens and becomes less noticeable. If from internal surgery scarring may form adhesions which can cause pain, gas, etc. See your physician.

Expensive: Some lazers are out there nowadays for scar removal but generally these are out of pocket, cosmetic procedures. I would speak to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon locally to see what they can offer you.

Not much.: Keloids are over-agressive scar formation caused by irritation and inflammation in a genetically-specific individual. Keloids are more common in dark-skinned races, but are seen in small percentages of all races. Steroid injections can help, but scar excision often causes a larger keloid.
