i eat lots of green veggies, fruit, chia seeds/flax i also exercise 5x a week, drink 4 glasses of water per day. 1/2 the time i have healthy poops and 1/2 the time i have pebbles + constipation. why?

Fruits and veggies: Your diet will define the consistency of your stool.  The fruits and veggies along with the chia and flax can alter the stool.  Play detective and start to note which fruits and veggies etc you eat make it one way or the other.

Age: Part of the issue is age the motility slows. Drink more water and or apple or prune juice

CONSTIPATION: In addition to what she is already taking she may take sennosides orally, next would be dulcolax suppositories or "Fleets" enema with much lubrication.

i have been taking flaxseed oil twice a day, eating vegetables, fruit and drinking water.  now i'm seeing mucus in my stool. is that normal?

Mucus : In the stool is normal in small amounts.  If you are having abdominal pain, a large amount of mucus, or blood in the stool, it might be a sign of something called inflammatory bowel disease.  See your local doctor if these symptoms are present to be tested.  Most likely it is the change in your diet causing you to notice the change in the stool.

i have hard mass of stool through the right side of my intestines and have been using movicol. i've added fuit, veggies and more water to my diet, but no real change. please help and advise?

Exam!: The mass may be due to fecal impaction or a tumor which could be benign or malignant. It is imperative that you be treated more aggressively as soon as possible to avoid serious complications. Your condition could cause serious illness or even death if it’s not treated properly.  You should go to a medical clinic as soon as possible for an exam! I wish you well with your health!

Laxative: Use a laxative next. May try miralax, (polyethylene glycol) exlax, magnesium citrate. Ask your surgeon.

I SEE NO PROBLEM: As long as you are moving your bowels daily and there are no other symptoms and you are not taking any medicine and have no coexisting medical condition.I will not worry about the stools which are grainy and dry
You should continue high fiber diet and increased fluids.But if you have any other symptoms than consult your doctor.
But at next doctor's visit discuss your concerns as well

No other disease?: Each person with constipation needs to be sure there is no other disease causing it. If constipation is just due to slow movement of the food and poop through the gut, then the things to try are vegetables, water, prune juice, prunes, fiber+water, miralax, (polyethylene glycol) senokot or other senna, milk of magnesia, other laxatives... A doctor can evaluate and prescribe helpful meds too. Exercise also helps.
