High school/courses: You do not need college education to become medical assistant.The job of medical assistant is to assist the doctor/doctors in day to day functioning of medical office, like preparing patirnts for examination, checking bp, height/weight, ekg and other office tests and other duties assigned.It requires a certificate course.
You might be confused with phisician assistant, (pa)which requires college degree.

Yes: Being around people who are sick is a sure fire way to get sick a lot. Make sure you are using really good hand hygiene and consider wearing a mask at work during cold and flu season.

Severe burns: severe burns should be examined.  See your Dentist.  Probably less expensive than the ER.

More training better: A medical assistant has less training than a dialysis technician and is ready to work more quickly. However, the opportunity for advancement is limited forcing further training such as nursing school. A dialysis technician must become certified after more extensive training. Dialysis jobs are available throughout the country after certification. Job security is better in the dialysis position.

i am a medical assistant and had my tb test come back positive but cxr negative. is there any follow up i should do?

Yes: For a person with a positive PPD skin test and a negative chest x-ray, if he had a BCG vaccine in the past, he can do a Quantiferon TB blood test to see if he was exposed to real TB or just to the BCG shot. If he never had a BCG, he can talk with his doctor to decide if he should take INH pills or do the TB blood test. If it is not certain he truly was positive on the skin test, he can repeat it.

No very different.: A physician's assistant actually provides medical care under a doctor's supervision. They have several years of post secondary education. They earn an average of &gt; $81, 000 per year. A medical assistant usually has 6 months to 1 year of training. Not all states require certification. They assist with administrative & clinical duties.They earn $19, 000 to $28, 000 annually.
