Complications: There are a lot of variables. It depends on what operation, who the surgeon is, and the medical problems your wife already has. Good option: These organized diets can provide a consistent calorie restricted diet with some built-in support. Remember to focus on solid meals not slider meals. Also, don't drink with meals. Avoid sugars and high fat snacks. Surgery is a tool. Use it to your advantage.

Sheer coincidence?: There’s basically no connection between your hydradenitis suppurativa and post operative course except that the former might just be suggestive of of a dysfunctional immune system. Without a doubt the suggested surgical intervention is appropriate for you. Evidently you are in good hands and I would rather suggest you trust their judgment

Depends: Each surgeon has their own protocol for diet after surgery. And it often depends on which procedure you have done. Generally speaking, however, you will likely be on liquids for a short period of time, and then advance from there to soft diet, to regular food. Just less of it.

No: Adhesion formation has more to do with the type of surgery performed and the body's immune response to inflammation;  one cannot control adhesion formation by diet or postoperative activity.

Follow advice: Following colostomy closure, i think it's a good practice to avoid very harsh roughage(nuts, popcorn, etc) until your bowel movements return to normal. Otherwise you should expect things to return to normal but it may take a week or two. It's best to follow your surgeon's advice, however.

will parathyroidectomy affect my appetite? directly after surgery should i be particular about my diet ?

No effect: If one or two parathyroids are removed leaving a thyroid lobe with 2 remaining parathyroids there will  be no  effect.  If all 4 parathyoids are damaged or removed, the calcium levels in the serum will drop and require exogenous hormone replacement. Apetite here may be effected.

Avoid complications: Regular diet after surgery can lead to vomiting. Vomiting is dangerous and can lead to aspiration pneumonia. The anesthetic agents impact the intestines, slow them down. Post surgical diet promotes hydration, little fat, few calories and easy to digest. Constipation after surgery is a related problem. Stay on the diet and have a safe recovery.
