No problem: Peanut butter will not cause constipation as long as you drink a lot of water. IBS is also not a problem unless you have a peanut allergy. In moderation peanut butter is a good food.

Accepted Answer

No!: Do not do that.  It is dangerous.  First, the only weight you will lose is stool and water weight - not fat.  Second, you will lose lots of electrolytes and nutrients as well as good gut bacteria.  This all can lead to heart, nerve, and brain problems as well as kidney damage.  That is not the way to lose weight.

does colon cancer still cause constipation if you have a good diet exercise enough and drink enough i don't have it but i do have bad constipation and im worried about it and i'm thinking if i fixed my diet and exercise and i doesn't improve see doc?

: Constipation is thought by some, to predispose to colon cancer by having certain substances in fecal matter being exposed to the colon and rectum for abnormally prolonged periods. However, in my opinion,this is mainly speculation as studies have shown both no relationship and possible relationship to benign and malignant growths in the colon. chronic constipation since i was a baby.for years up until recently i thought any bm was good even if most of the time it's pellets. if i stay on top of water&fiber supplement im normal. lately notice i'm taking senokot 1-3/month to help. is that bad?

Constipation: You should definitely see a doctor to make sure you are not getting a bowel obstruction, you should go more urgently if you feel nauseous or more abdominal pain.  After you are seen by a doctor, you can consider adding more fiber and water to your diet, a stool softener can also help as can eating prunes, but please see a doctor to make sure you are ok.

: You need to get regular bowel habits. You must increase your water input to at least 40 oz per day. The addition of a bowel softener on a daily basis would also help. Good Luck

Yes.: Your dietary habits will certainly have an effect on your bowel habits.  Further, if you have a cold and are experiencing fevers, you may be dehydrated which likewise can affect your bowel habits in the short term.

Change your diet and: Fluids. Eat a high fiber diet between 20-25 grams per day, regular meal times and drink 80-100 oz of caffeine free alcohol free fluids daily. If you exercise and should add 20 oz per 30 minutes of strenuous exercise. Some meds contribute to constipation so take the meds with full glass of fluid instead of a sip in addition to the above recommended fluids.
