Needs evaluation: Bandage lenses are inserted to minimize pain of ocular surface disease and help to promote healing.  Generally they are checked in 1-3 days by the ophthalmologist who inserted the lens (you are seeing a real doctor, not an optometrist for eye disease?).  You should not have this left in for a week.  Return for a recheck.

Fine: Years ago the treatment for an abrasion was a pressure patch.  But in recent years ophthalmologists have switched from patching to using a bandage contact lens with antibiotic and possibly a mild steroid to decrease the inflammation. Continue your care with the same ophthalmologist.

Bleb revision: Chronic bleb leaks have a significant chance for infectious endophthalmitis ( intraocular infection) which can result in blindness. If a leak cannot be stopped with conservative measures like you've described, i would recommend a surgical bleb revision. I advise seeing a glaucoma subspecialist who will evaluate your relative and properly advise her as to the best approaches for this chronic issue.

Yes: If you are wearing the lens because you have a corneal problem, this can be normal until the cornea clears up.  I would have your eye doctor check to make sure the fit of the lens is good because this can cause discomfort and eye redness as well.

Easy: Place the contact in the palm of your hand.  Cover it with contact lens solution.  Rub with your finger for 15 seconds.  Flip it over and repeat.  Place it in your contact lens case with new solution.

Probably OK: Contact lenses are released after careful design and clinical trials.  They should be comfortable, stable and give good vision.  Most succeed in this and can be considered in this case to be effective.  If you have discomfort or poor vision, then you need a refit.

Soft contacts?: If you are rubbing them to clean them you can stop this practice. The contact lens solution do help clean the contacts. Handling properly you should not have a problem with tearing them.

Sometimes: Spectacles can usually provide very precise improvement of vision.  But some circumstances will improve better with contacts.  These include the condition keratoconus, and also diseases of the corneal surface as well as very high degrees of refractive power needs.  Contacts of course have their convenience and cosmetic effects although glasses in the right hands can be a fashion statement.
