Eating habits: Both of these do risk your health, so i'm glad you're thinking about this.  Overeating can risk weight gain, which can lead to other problems like diabetes, inflammation, joint problems, hypertension, and heart disease.  Besides being unpleasant, purging by vomiting risks electrolyte imbalance, damaged teeth, esophageal injury, etc.  Best to see someone for your eating disorder & save yourself!

I'd want to evaluate: A kid eating that often could have developed a night  grazing habit or may be compensating for a real metabolic issue.A 17mo at that wt is on the lighter side of normal so both factors give me more questions than answers. A few basic tests and review of her growth pattern is warrented. If ok your provider should help you develop a plan for more restful nights.

Possibly: Unfortunately we have depended on medicine to solve our problems more easily because we are too lazy to put out the effort ourselves.  I dont mean this to be deragotory, we all do it but if we can solve our problems ourself we have a better feeling of accomplishment and self esteem rather than allowing some chemical or mechanical appliance to solve it for us.  Although sometimes they are necessary.

May damage them: I do not know what you mean by "pick my gums". But, yes you could damage your gums by "picking at them". You could cause ulcerations, inflammation and recession. Recession happens when the gums move away from the crown of the tooth and the root of the tooth starts showing. Recession could range from mild to severe. Usually one needs to have gum surgery to correct it.
