May damage them: I do not know what you mean by "pick my gums". But, yes you could damage your gums by "picking at them". You could cause ulcerations, inflammation and recession. Recession happens when the gums move away from the crown of the tooth and the root of the tooth starts showing. Recession could range from mild to severe. Usually one needs to have gum surgery to correct it.

Stop it: Picking at your gums can only lead to problems especially if you are making them bleed ask yourself - why am i picking at my gums? Find something else to focus on.
