Baclofen OD=&gt;60mg: Baclofen overdose can result in Coma, delirium and seizures.  Generally these symptoms occur only with doses of 200mg or more ;  Hypertension is also common in her dose OD.  120mg (12 tabs of 10mg each) typically causes blackout, sedation, dizziness and confusion.  70mg + has caused visual hallucinations and bizarre dreams.

if i take baclofen 10mg a day for months. would i withdraw if i decided to stop it? could being on this medication cause less anxiety, more mental clarity?

: If you are only taking 10mg daily, then you would not experience withdrawal symptoms stopping it since that is a low dose. It could cause less anxiety but not sure about more mental clarity-it would be a bit sedating when you first start taking it although this tends to wear off over time. Good luck!

is the medication baclofen useful for people going through alcohol withdrawel?

Yes: Several studies have shown that Baclofen (liorisal®) can reduce or eliminate alcohol withdrawal.  This is not surprising, because this drug is a direct gaba-acting agent and GABA is the neurotransmitter that is also affected by benzodiazepines like Valium and librium, and work in withdrawal.  However, it can cause physical dependence as well if used for prolonged periods.

can you tell me if baclofen (liosreal) is safe to use as a sleeping medication ?

It's ok: It is a medicine chiefly used as a muscle relaxer for those with spastic muscle conditions.  Since drowsiness is one of its side effects, I can see how it might help with sleep if taken at night.  But that is not its primary indication.

?: Baclofen is a muscle relaxer. I've not heard of it used in treating alcoholism.

would drinking coffee with medication such as baclofen or tylenol cause them to work any better? haven't had any coffee for a couple days and they seem less effective. just coincidence?

Accepted Answer

: Some OTC tylenol products have caffeine added to enhance its effect -- but we are cautioned not to drink excessive amounts of coffee while taking tylenol, as it can increase the risk of liver damage.  I don't know of any interactions between caffeine and baclofen.

is it best to stagger new medications, i.e. start one a week or so before introducing another.  i have started gabapentin and have baclofen prescribed.  maybe i should wait to add baclofen until i've gotten to a full dose of gabapentin?

If possible, yes: It is helpful if your Doctor agrees-let them know and discuss with them, as if you start both meds at the same time, you may not know which one genuinely helps and or if you get an adverse reaction/side effect, you would not know which one caused it, etc.  Best wishes.

Doubt it: None of the medications you take directly increase your blood pressure.  Of course all medication are metabolized in liver and excreted in kidney so if you have medical issues with your kidneys then you have to have a discussion with your doctor who can give you specific information good luck.

Rx and muscle spasms: Either one of these may be helpful for muscle spasm symptoms.  Sometimes neither of them is helpful.  Both of them are worth a try.

Spasticity is increased muscle tone that occurs due to a spinal cord or brain injury, not peripheral neuropathy.

i was prescribed 10 mg of baclofen for a back sprain/tightness.  is constipation a common side effect? will it go away as i take the medication?

Accepted Answer

Side effects: Baclofen may cause constipation.  People more often feel tired or weak with this medicine, but not everyone has a side effect after taking it.  This side effect may subside after using the medicine for some time.
It may help you to take in extra water or to use a remedy such as sennosides to help prevent constipation.
