could it be possible im going into labor if..? i been feeling lower abdomen pains and back pains since last night, exept i happens like every 2 hours for like 15 minutes and then they go away is this a sign of labor?should i go to the hospital?

In : In a situation like this where you are unsure about going to the hospital, you should call the doctor's office. There will be a doctor or nurse on call that can tell you what to do based on how far along you are, your level of pain, and the frequency and duration of your contractions. I always tell my prenatal patients, when in doubt call your doctor!

Not active labor: At term, most physicians recommend patients go to the hospital once they are having regular contractions, at least every 10 minutes, that have continued in that pattern for at least 1-2 hours  and are perceived as getting stronger.  Actual labor occurs only when there is cervical change--thus, that is what is evaluated on labor and delivery.  As long as the baby continues to move well, await labor.

hi been experiencing some back pain like i'm in labour and went to the doctor they said i'm pregnant but i'm on my periods it been over 7days now and they can hear the heart beat but can't see the bby in.my womb must i go to hospital asap i'm in pain?

Dr. or ER can check: A woman cannot get her normal regular period and be pregnant at the same time. However, if she is "in pain" and has been told she is pregnant, then the usual course of action is see the Ob-Gyn doctor or go to the ER for reevaluation. Such a patient needs to verify 100% that she understands her medical situation before leaving the doctor... as she cannot have a regular period and also be pregnant.

Labor: The best time to go to the hospital is when you are having contractions that are coming regularly,about 10-15 min apart. This also depends on how far away you are from the hospital.  There is no one position that is best for labor. Everyone is differently.

Be flexible: Have a plan and be ready to change it. Having a baby works just like other aspects of our lives. We prepare and make plans and then life happens, and  we are forced to deal with whatever situation is in front of us. Communicate with your doctor what is important to you. Make a plan and then be flexible so you can enjoy the experience.

Define Birth Center: I deliver at a birth center which has private rooms, newborn rooming, birth plan receptive... But still offer 24/7 epidural service, full or availability in-house for emergencies, full time peds/neonatologist if needed, and full lab & blood bank services. Most hospital l&d units are emulating birth centers & maintain all support services in case of emergencies. Tour & deliver where you feel safe.

Care for you : Generally you are admitted to a room. The baby is placed on the monitor. A nurse assesses you and the baby followed by the doctor. Then the team provides the care that you specifically need to keep you comfortable and provide the safest care plan for you and your baby.

Call 911: Call 911.  Don't panic.  Have someone pour some rubbing alcohol over a section of the umbillical cord and tie a clean shoe lace soaked in rubbing alcohol around the cord.  You do not have to cut the cord.  Dry the baby with clean towels and wrap in clean dry towels to keep warm.
