i have pain & discomfort near my upper butt where my back dimples are located. it's caused pain in my hips & inner thighs. what could this be?

Low back: More than likely this is musculoskeletal discomfort and an evaluation by an orthopedic specialist would be worthwhile. Any appropriate tests will be ordered and, if deemed advisable, referrals may be made to a rheumatologist and or physical therapist.

i've got a large bump on my lower back right between back dimples, it covers the entire space between the dimples. its hard and aches a little.

Cyst: Depending how long the lump has been present and how it formed, it may recede on its own, may need to be drained, or may need to be excised.  See your physician and she/he will be better able to assess it. It is likely benign (meaning it won't cause serious problems), but is likely to be a nuisance until you get it taken care of.

i have pain in my lower back near the upper part of my buttocks, near my back dimples. it causes my groin and hips to hurt. what could this be?

Lumbar stenosis: Could be sciatica from lumbar spinal stenosis or a herniated disc- an MRI can confirm this

Not dumb, I don't no: I am not looking at someone now ;, it is just a educated guess. I would say the dimple is the top of the si joint. I never paid any attention 2 it. Any one else out there who actually knows. I have seen them 100's of times, but u stumped the expert. Congratulations!

i have a puffy spot on my lower back between my dimples its always been there just not as puffy. it became that way when i was prego. its a year later?

Hard to say: Discuss with your doctor.  You might want an x-ray of your lower back to assess.  There are conditions that involve the distal spine that are not clinically significant but worth knowing about (e.g. Spina bifida occulta).

Not really: Unless your face is swollen now due to an infection from your wisdom teeth I do not believe there will be any correlation between your dimples and wisdom teeth removal.

No: Most people do not.  The "dimples of venus" seen on some slim people overlie the sacroiliac joints.  Why they are visible in some people and not others remains a mystery of medicine, just like why some people have chin clefts and others do not.

why do women have dimples on both sides of the lower spine?

Not sure which: dimples you refer to, but anyone skinny, whether male of female will have a noticable sulcus (or you may call it dimple) at the region of their sacroiliac joint -- the sacral sulcus -- as the posterior iliac crest protrudes more posterior than the sacrum, which results in the sulcus, but it is present in everyone -- you only visually notice it if the individual is skinny/slim.

i have two small moveable lumps in the dimples of my lower back. i have had them for over a year and no growth. should i be concerned?

Lumps: Usually no cause for concern, especially if on both sides. Probably fatty tumors.
