Medical evaluation: Acid reflux can cause ulcers to develop in the stomach.  In some instances, increased acid production and/or ulcer formation can be caused by a certain type of bacteria called h. Pylori that would need antibiotics to cure.  A simple test at your physician's office would be able to determine this.

no i been feeling faint like plus woozy feeling and i got acid reflux and my stomach be bubbly feeling sometime can't sleep don't know what's wrong wi?

Lots of thoughts.: Many concerns are expressed here. Unfortunately, there's not much in this forum that can be done with such limited information to help you get the answers you wish for. Maybe try asking questions one at a time would help. Try to be as clear as you can be when asking about a problem. Also, there is no better way to find out about your health than to visit a doctor in person. Consider pregnancy too.

i have acid reflux, treated with ppi, but sour/mettalic taste in mouth/throat and stomach gas discomfort persists regardless of avoiding triggers, sleeping on an incline, waiting at least 3 hours before lying down after meals?

: In addition to medication avoid spicy and oily foods,aspirin, anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen or naproxen. Also  avoid alcohol,nicotine,excess caffeine. Try coating the esophagus by taking a liquid combination of antacid&amp;antigas,recommended by your pharmacist, 1/2 after meals and at bedtime. Are you taking the maximum dose of the ppi?  Is a gastroenterologist involved in your care?

with gerd or acid reflux, if you have a flare-up overnight, can it still bother you the next day after you wake up? is it because you've been asleep and have an empty stomach when you wake up? or is it due to another reason?

Gerd: Yes it is possible for acid reflux to continue to bother the next day or next several days based on the severity. Acid is an irritant in the esophagus and throat area, so excess of that triggers inflammation and can take anywhere from a few hours to several days to feel better in the absence of any acid suppressing or neutralizing medications.

worried i have a hiatal hernia b/c of acid reflux. some times my toddler falls asleep on my stomach area when they are restless. if its for hours could that give me a hernia or make it worse? i am really skinny so not much protection of stomach?

: A toddlers weight will not affect your hernia in any way. Enjoy those precious moments.

I don't think so.: It sounds like you're having intestinal pain as opposed to upper abdominal pain where reflux symptoms exist. Acid reflux generally is not the main source of gas or flatus. This sounds more suspicious for a lower intestinal problems such as constipation or irritable bowel.

6 week old baby has very sensitive stomach even to the sensitive formulas. also has acid reflux. is he likely to be plagued w/this later, as an adult?

Maybe/not: All babies reflux, some reaching a problem status.It is age &amp; position related.There is no valve blocking back flow (reflux).The stomach entrance is a bend in a tube that opens frequently to allow mouth mucous/food in. Gravity helps hold food down but it can come up any time the stomach squeezes to process the meal.Laying flat increases reflux. It peaks about 4m &amp; starts to improve with sitting.

seeking advice for which formula to use for 5month old baby that is colicky and very gassy with upset stomach. his is currently on novalac ar digest for his acid reflux but it's making him very gassy and cries for many hours. ?

GI distress: There's a cause for your child's GI distress, and simply changing formula may not provide relief. Your child should be evaluated by a children's medical specialist, a Pediatrician, to discover the cause of his distress and thereby arrive at the appropriate treatment. Don't try to do this hit or miss. Take advantage of a Pediatricians 20,000 hours of training and years of experience.

my 6 week old baby grunts and squirms while she's sleep and she spits up threw both her mouth and nose causing her to choke. does she have acid reflux?

GERD?: See peds. To DX baby. Put her on a sitting position to see if still vomits.

Chicken & egg: It is unlikely that reflux causes apnea... In a newborn it may by causing airway swelling from the irritation. It is more likely that apnea causes reflux - there is a strong relationship between apnea and reflux..
