The colorizing agent is the intense green bile added in process which changes through yellows to browns by germ metabolism on the debris in the gut.Mucous is not a common feature. If your baby is eating well, has stools several times a day, and most important, is gaining weight and growing, you are doing a good job.

Mucous in the stool: Is this mucous a one time event or happening a lot?  Is the baby having many (10-12)  stools a day and are they watery?  Are you breastfeeding or formula feeding?  Do you see frank blood in the stool?  These are all important questions in trying to figure out if this is milk-protein allergy.  I would see you pediatrician for evaluation.
