hi can i kindly find out if theres any other options for a breech baby at 36 weeks or the only option is a c-section ?

: Some will turn . Some OBGyns will attempt a technique to turn baby, usually closer to delivery. Since the head is the largest body part to pass through the birth canal &amp; it will cut off blood flow through the placenta during that transit, C-section has become the safe choice for delivery.

what are the chances of a breech baby turning on her own at 36 weeks? if she does not turn, when is the earliest a csection will be scheduled?

if it is your 1st: It could but not probable, if it is breech an elective csection for the breech is scheduled at 39 weeks the earliest or is done if u go into labor or your water breaks before then please discuss with your ob.

is external cephalic version dangerous for baby or mom? could it cause issues with unbiblical cord? i'm 36 weeks with a breech baby. any advice?

By expert: If that is done by an experienced obstetrician under close monitoring of the fetal status - it should be okay and could be an option for you. Please discuss further with your OB with the detail procedure and possible complication.

Not much: You could ask your doctor if he/she is willing to do an external cephalic version.  This is a procedure where 1-2 doctors manually attempt to essentially flip your baby.  Not all of us still do this.

Maybe,maybe not: The babies head is the largest structure to pass through the birth canal. You don't want to be "stuck" with the babies body out & the umbilical cord pinched off by a big head that won't deliver.A small baby can deliver breach through a average sized or larger pelvis.Breach babies can turn vertex late in pregnancy.

Usually no reason: Twin pregnancies can be breech because of limited room in the uterus.  Some babies may have a larger head than usual that does not fit easily in the mother's pelvis.  Sometimes certain abnormalities of mother's pelvis or uterus may force baby to assume a breech position.  Most cases there is no obvious reason.

Yes: You are almost full term with your pregnancy. Go to the ER to get evaluated.

Hip Development: The big issue with breech babies is they can at higher risk for developmental dysplasia of the hip. (ddh) your pediatrician will just need to do a hip exam at well child follow ups to screen.  Because female infants with a positive family history of ddh and females born in breech presentation have the highest risks of ddh, imaging with an ultrasound or radiography is recommended for these infants.

Head lgst part: Head down vaginal deliveries are more likely to go smoothly because the head has engaged in the pelvis & had time to mold into a workable size to come down the birth canal. Since it is the largest body part, coming last may not allow time to mold or it may just be too big.I have sat in on deliveries where we had to push baby back in to get it  out the top by csection.

does anyone know what are the side effects of a baby born in the breech position?

It depends: If your breech baby is delivered by cesarean section , there is probably no significant issues. Sometimes the baby will have been in that position for a considerable time and may have early issues with hips, but not usually. The increased risk comes from vaginal birth, since the last part to deliver is the head. And with twins delivered vaginally, the second twin is often delivered as a breech.
