Relative study: His rating means that 10% of infants at this age have a larger head circumference (size) while 90% are smaller.If the size has increased from 25-50-75-90% over several months it would suggest growth was too rapid.If usually in that range, it just means the kid has a big head.It hasn't bothered me any, except for having trouble finding a helmet/hat that would fit..

No: Increase in head circumference seems excessive.  I would recommend brain imaging even if your baby remains asymptomatic.

Depends: This would be at the high end of normal for a male infant & usually paired with a length of 67 cm. You can download a growth chart from the cdc website & plot known measures to follow the child's pattern. www.cdc.gov/growthcharts
if your kid is shorter or the head size is increasing faster than his length, it is unusual.If this is a girl the head is too big.

Head size: My first thought is technique and is a measuring error.   That's the most likely.   I would get it measured again and monitor it over the next few weeks to see if it is real or to watch the trend.    Premature closure of the soft spot is a possibility which is fixable.   Lower IQ would be unlikely.   Talk to your doctor and let him know your concern and work together.

Watch closely: By using CDC Growth Charts for term infants and plotting the two measurements according to age, growth is slow and concerning.  Premature infants are often at the lower percentiles for growth, but eventually catch up and a different chart is used.  Head growth and neurologic development needs to be followed very closely.

: I would likely do some form of imaging to look into the inside of the skull. Sometimes they can do a simple ultrasound through the soft spot if it is still present. If not a simple CT of the head would do. You did not mention any of the other body parameters, like length &amp; weight. If everything is in the same range other issues would need to be investigated.

my 2 month old dropped in both head circumference and weight percentiles at his appointment at 9 weeks old. went from 38th to 13th percentile for hc and 58th to 34th in weight. is this impaired growth or is my baby just leveling out?

: Failure to remain on a consistent growth patter suggests either a nutritional problem or a medical one. If this decline persists through the next check-up, I would want to do some testing. Please review this with his doc.
