prescribed biprofenid with azithromycin for ear infection. is it ok to just take antibiotic bc the nsaids make me extremely sick to my stomach. ?

YES: You can always avoid a symptomatic medication when you know you cannot tolerate it.You may be able to help your pain by holding moist heat to the side of your head (side with earache).For some reason diffuse heat clouds the brain's pain sensors.The Azith+ takes a while to start helping so plan to deal with it for a while.

recently an internal med dr said my ecg was normal for a young man but the printout said borderline - st elev. labwork said hdl of 64 and ldl of 91. bp was slightly high at 135/91. is it safe to take azithromycin prescribed for ear infection?

: Unless you are allergic to the antibiotic, it should have no effect on your BP, cholesterol count, or your heart.

my daughter is on azithromycin for an ear infection. her stool looks odd; like dark green coffee grounds. should i be concerned?

Stool color: It is unlikely there is a problem. If the stool appears black with a bad odor, it may represent blood. If she is other well and not in pain she is likely fine. You can always have your doctor check a hemoccult. All the best.

Follow up: You need follow up with your doctor because if ear infection dose not respond to antibiotic  your doctor should refer you to ENT for possible drainage.

Azithromycin: Zithromax is not the first-line drug to treat ear infections but is an acceptable substitute in certain situations (suspected mycoplasma infection or penicillin allergy are examples).

You'll be fine: Taking 1 gram (1000 mg) azithromycin in a single dose is the normal treatment for chlamydia and the STD nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). It might work for an ear infection, but has not been studied. In any case, it won't hurt you. Maybe some brief abdominal pain, nausea, or diarrhea, but that's all. Contact your doctor to be certain you took the drug as she intended. Good luck!

Mgt: It may be an allergic reaction, but a drug reaction tends to be more diffuse. If it persists or is associated with respiratory symptoms, please seek immediate care.

Often ear infections: are viral or have accompanying viruses, which may be the cause of the fever. I would recommend you have a recheck at your doctor if the fever still persists after the next few days, just to be sure the ear infection is actually better and that there's nothing else that needs to be treated.

is there a possibility that u can get an ear infection from a sinus infection?  if so, will the azithromycin clear that up as well?  my ear hurts.

You betcha!: Your sinuses, pharynx (throat), nose and middle ears are all interconnected. It's a complex maze of tubes and passages that easily pass infection from one area to another. And yes, your Azithromycin should be adequate at clearing things up. I'm a bit fonder of a penicillin based treatment for sinus/ear, like augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) but that's probably the pediatrician in me talking.Chew gum to relieve ear pain.

started with uri feb 23, turned into bilateral ear infection. was prescribed azithromycin 500 on 3/2 and cephalexin 250 on 3/14. i still cannot hear.

Recheck/test: Otitis media can take around one month to heal . There may be a fluid accumulation interfering with your hearing, even if the bacterial infection is treated. I would recommend a hearing test at your doctors office - a re check of your tympanic membranes ( ear drums). If you are experiencing no bleeding, fever or pain, your doctor's office will probably ask you to return in late march/early april.
