Basics: It is routine for a pediatrician to obtain &amp; keep a growth chart on any patient in their permanent (they keep them) medical records. It remains one of the best ways to document/follow growth &amp; health in a child. Whether on not the doc or his staff record those measurements in a book you keep would be a local issue. I suggest you have them show you how &amp; learn to do it yourself.

: I don't believe breast fed babies overfeed, but don't have access to its records to comment much. Babies do go through growth spirts and may feed more often some times than others. They can also use feeding as nurturing/cuddling so I encourage moms to be sure not to feed just before bedding them down. That can pattern them to feed just to re- sleep if they wake.
