The aap recommends ongoing developmental surveillance using standardized  screening tests like the asq + the m-chat screening for autism at 18 & 24 mos. Autism Spectrum: Autism in children who are high functioning  may some times have add and anxiety symptoms and may need medications for that
but that decision has to be made by childs pediatri neuro psychiatrist.We can not recommend on this site, so make an appointment and discuss your concern with the doctor, and if doc feels meds will benefit he/she will prescribe, these meds do have side effects you should be awar.

Martha herbert, a pediatric neurologist: "so many autistic kids have a history of food and airborne allergies or eczema, or diarrhea." what if treating these physical issues could improve the behavioral symptoms of autism? That's the basis of the autism diet (examples-eliminating glutens and casein). The diet hasn't been scientifically proven to improve symptoms or help recover.

Requires expertise: Autism can present in many forms, and other disorders can have elements that can be mistaken for it.  Age also is important:   2 or 3 yo children present much differently than older ones or adolescents.  No behaviors associated with autism occur only with autism.  Experts look at the total picture, both how development is going and what impairments are present.  So, far no biological tests.
