Get labs: Has the thyroid gland been checked? If the daughter has underactive thyroid gland the metabolism is slow. More likely to get constipated.

You listed the condition of diarrhea. That is the opposite of constipation. Was this due to laxative use?

Her bowel function needs to be stabilized.
See a doctor to get a lab slip and evaluation.

No: I have reviewed some lab reports from mega labs that  propose a "normal value" and suggest treatments when this normal component of the poo is found above their "normal values".I find this makes no sense and is pure pseudo-science snake oil. Of course they will want you to repeat the studies several times to see if "treatment" worked.

Depends on age: Yes, this can be normal in many children, not just ad kids.

It would be better: to get it directly, especially if there is a trace of blood from skin or urine that's in the water. Did you try putting foil or plastic wrap between the seat and the rest of the toilet? Another way to do it is to take some of the stool from the toilet tissue you wipe him with (if you are wiping him).

No: This is more indicative of the kinds of food he has been eating. From time to time there have been some anecdotes about bowel function and its relationship to autism, but there is no direct correlation with diet, stools or GI symptoms in the majority of children with autism.

Myth: Everyone has yeast in their stool. It is ubiquitous in nature and comprises a variable part in the stool within hours of birth.It tends to increase in proportion after antibiotic use kills off good bacteria in the gut, and return to lower levels after the other gut germs rebalance.

Autism: This is really hard to answer without a lot more detail. I would highly recommend you speak with someone who does aba.  Applied behavioral analysis. Best way to treat troubling behaviors like this in autism.

Bizzarre behavior: This may be a self soothing mechanism like rocking, other consoling mechanisms.   Her severe autism leaves her without the normal social negative reinforcement of neurotypcal kids, meaning, she doesn't have the social awareness to remind her to stop the behavior.  You may have some degree of success with social skills training with a therapist.  Never spank her. Positive reinforcement works best!

Routine: As you well know, just telling him to poop in the toilet is likely not an option. However, many autistic kids are creatures of habit and routine. So start making toileting part of his unwavering routine. He should sit on the toilet for 5 minutes after every meal and before bedtime. Those are times when the gut is naturally moving things along, so he will begin to associate gut feelings with toilet.

TOILET TRAINING: Just like the other kids show them how to go potty when you do one and don't force them when  they are not ready yet.
